Performance Art & Video Documentation

This performance piece exists within the larger context of an anthology exploring the intersection of classic horror tropes and the queer experience. The “Queer-ture from the Pink Lagoon” explores the fraught relationship between a deep sea monster and her object of desire, observing her fruitless journey of seduction and attempted capture.

The Whoracle: Fortune-Telling Cyborg

Continuing themes of classic horror and queer iconography, The Whoracle is a fortune-telling robot creature who dispenses tarot cards and fortunes a la Zoltar. This piece was performed as a long-term installation, with the fortune teller box set up in the lobby of a high-traffic area. The Whoracle would engage with audience members and dispense fortunes for them.

Making Love with Monsters

Jennifer Von Zaleska, another in a series of characters focusing on queer horror, is a sapphic vampire on the hunt for love. Act I: La Luna follows Jennifer steamily seducing her victim, while Act II: El Sol depicts a frigid landscape in which Jennifer spits out the blood and bones of her consumed object. This piece explores themes of sapphic love, forbidden desire, monstrous natures, Transylvanian consumption and feminine expulsion.
